I know you said not any $1000 upgrades but if you factor in the cost of new replacement unit bearings (that you have to spend) and the savings on gas, I would look at this kit. Just get rid of those junk unit bearing all together.

Yea moog has both reps going on, but what part does not have good rep and a bad rep. One other brand people like is XRF.
If you are not going with that lift make sure you check the bushing in the control arms you need a big pry bar to test those. Some of the steering parts do have bends in them.
Edit: Just a suggestion here but economy steering parts will not last very long, just a waste of time installing them. They might last longer in a more stock truck but you have plans.

I am still looking at the D501KS and can pretty much guarantee it'll be bought - just depends on whether I want to put it on the Canex plan I told you about (at about $2,400) or buck up ponies immediately and go through the US (at about $1,500 before tax). As such, I need to look at the kit closer and see what comes with it as to avoid duplication of new parts.I just looked over your link... you're killing me, man. Looking at that, my understanding is I am avoiding purchasing the hub assemblies (which, really, are about $300 when all put together - ORDERED from the US, here in Canada it would be more) and the U-Joints, correct? And this changes the front end to a manual locking hub (much like my old fullsize Jimmy). I'm still going to need to put up the ball joints, which aren't too harshly priced.
Edit: Says without ABS, do I not have ABS on my truck? Perhaps I'm missing something... (which, I promise you, is 100% possible!)
Edit Edit: Instructions look pretty damn simple. I think I am going to dig into the service manual a bit more though, I need to learn my terminology/what does what more when looking at the front suspension. I'll fully admit, as before, it's all Greek to me. And not the good kind of Greek.

Some trucks had 4 wheel abs, from what I have read it comes in both flavors.
Yep you will still need new ball joints, they will not be in either kit.
Edit; Unless the other unit bearing is newer, then chances are two months down the road you will be replacing it, making that kit the close to the same price as two replacement unit bearings. Or is that $300 for both unit bearings?
