It's not the ****, yours is a 97 with a cable operated blend door. The OP's is a 99 which should have an electric motor that operates the blend door. That motor might be bad or he needs one of these. http://www.heatertreater.net/index.html
What does the blend door do exactly? How would I repair something like that? If I wanted to replace the unit, It would be located under the dash right?

It adjusts the hot and cold setting. And did did you look at the link I proved? I believe there is a video if you indeed have the motor as apposed to the cable.

And gweisberg, add all the info about your truck to your sig and your profile please.

I don't think you understood my post...I had the control panel out and I know its cable operated, but the plastic **** you touch yourself with your hand with the white line on it to show where you're blending your climate controls can crack on the base and slip around the actual control unit (for lack of a better word) "potentiometer head". About a 1/3 of the control units at the junk yard had the basic **** itself cracked and it would just spin on the metal potentiometer and not even turn it, seems to be a common problem for it to crack out.

Nothing wrong with the unit itself just the **** on it not getting enough grip to turn it because its cracked, it will feel like its turning but its really slipping around the head of the blend adjustor. So weather he's got cable or electric he should pull the **** off and check it for cracks, might save himself some cash if that is the problem.
