Default 2001 ram blows brake fuse.

It's inspection time for my 01 ram and I need to track down this short, the fuse doesn't blow until the pedal is pushed. I removed the trashed trailer harness and removed and insulated all the splices the previouse owner from across the border installed.
I still got the short so I completely disconnected the harness at the connector under the drivers firewall running back to the rear of the truck and still had the short. I inspected all of the harness and found no obviose damage, I even pulled the two halves of the fuse box apart and found nothing unusual.

What areas should I check next? Could the switch at the pedal be at fault?

That is what I would check/replace next, after what you've done so far.

I won't go into to much detail but they are common around these parts, lets call them "Paco". Paco often does his own vehicle repairs with what little he has, unfortunately he often fails to make make permanent repairs due to the lack of education, and possibly motivation to do the job right, just trying to make it work with the minimum.

The "Paco" that owned my car has been the cause of every issue I've had with my truck except the water pump, everything he has touched I have had to redo. After this short, the only thing left to repair is the dash, "Paco" used silicone seal to glue the a dash cap on the disintegrating dash, he could have at least used a glue that would adhere. he also lost the handle for the E-brake.

I found the short when checking the switch, the short was on the harness that is attached to the bottom of the steering wheel. "Paco" probably forgot to clip it onto the coulomb when he was molesting the dash, the white wire with a pink stripe was the only wire that had been damaged on the steel dash support below.

The wiring in mine probably was a lot like yours.....from someone north of that border! Some people should NOT be allowed to work on stuff.....
