Greetings. I searched the DIY sections but found nothing. My questions are what I would need for a conversion to 4WD aside from a donor truck and buckets of time. I have been swinging wrenches for a long time but know little of the technical differences between frame, tranny, steering knuckles, and (axle)differentials. I have a 1994 2500 with the V10. How interchangeable are the 4X4 bits from a V8 2500 of the same generation? Am I looking at a swap of parts, and add-on of mounting gear for the transfer case and what not. If anyone knows of any publications or manuals aside from the cheesy Haynes; I would appreciate it greatly. I plan on hunting down a series of shop spec manuals online long before the start. I do not plan to start this project until next spring. I know I have to cut the floor shell of the cab to mount the engage gear, but if the frame doesn't need too much fabrication, and the tranny can be negotiable...I may be on to my dream truck....Thanks everyone!
