Isn't gas hard on seals and bearings though? I was always told gas in oil is not good for the motor at all...

ethanol in gas usually hurts seals. i doubt the little bit of gas that has got in the oil will hurt anything. its when you start getting a lot of it that things can go wrong quick but if your lucky you can catch it before any damage is done.

spend $30 on an oil change and hope you caught it in time. it doesn't take much gas to make all the oil smell like gas. gas just has a very strong smell that transfers.

Doubt it. Here's the thing: Mechanics are in this gas all day so they get used to it (I speak from experience...).

Thats the prob. My friend GMC had the same issue and the throttle body injector was leaking bad, and the raw fuel washes off the oil film on the cyclinders walls and can premature wear the cyclinders and rings.
