Default overdrive issues

i have a 96 dodge ram sport i just bought a few months ago i noticed that the over drive switch would turn on and off randomly and engaged and disengage the overdrive and after awhile i figured out that it was doing it whenever i had my fan on but if the fan is off it runs fine what would cause this?

"the fan" ? I assume you have an Efan? Sound's to me like it's wired into the wrong circuit.

hmm i suppose that could be it! idk what they had done to it before i bought it but the only thing i have done is install a new stereo head unit and when i took the dash apart i made sure i pluged everything back into when i had taken them out of. is there anyway i could check that with little knowledge of wiring other than installing stereo systems? lol

Since I don't have enough knowledge about the wiring of an e fan installed on a 2nd gen ram. The thing I would do at first would be to see where the power circuit is wired. Then I'd move it to a different source. Others on here have efans, maybe they will chime in. Could be that's not the real problem, but I'd eliminate as one at least.
