Common parts in 98 Ram 1500 & 2500 suspension and steering

I want to switch my truck to a 2500 suspension. What parts are used on both vehicles and do I nee to switch the steering as well with an upgrade like this? I have straight axles and would like to retain them as a 5 bolt. Just want the ability to haul a bit more and more options when it comes to the lift that will also be going in at the same time. Also is it suggested to use diesel front springs instead of gasser, so that it levels out automatically?
Thanks everyone for the help.

The rear springs are 1/2" wider, so new shackles/perches would need to be installed, but the front springs would be a simple straightforward swap. The rear is not worth it IMO, just beef up the leaf pack you have by stuffing a few more leaves in there from junkyard leaf packs, or stick an add-a-leaf in 'em.

The link was helpful to a point. I have a straight front axle. I am keeping that and the rear one as well. It looks like right now all I have to do is get the bigger shackles for the rear leafs because I am going to put a 2500 lift kit in it seeing as all I need to do is swap a couple parts and I'm done. Appreciate it.

Now for an even better question. Who is the best company for a lift kit? I want to go up 6-7 inches. Sky Jacker is one of my favorites but they have always pricey and it seems like they have a lot of parts I don't know if I need for it. http://skyjacker.com/product.php?ProdID=25381 Would again appreciate any advice anyone has on the subject.
