Default throttle help

Well here recently my truck wont idle at all. They only way it will stay alive is if im holding the gas in. Im hoping i just need to tighten the cable but just not positive. It does have some slack in the line.

Check out cleaning the idle air control sensor on the back side of throttle body and while your at it, remove and clean the throttle body itself. The IAC allows right amount of air to enter the intake when throttle plates are closed. Carbon builds up on the pintle . Anyway, a good place to start. Grab a new gasket for throttle body and while it's off take a look inside plenum for excess oil. Need a t-20 or t-25 torx wrench to remove. the IAC . If you end up replacing iac get dealer part, more bling but worth it.

It could be your battery has a cell that's going bad. These trucks do not like to idle if the battery is below 12vdc. Have it load tested.

+1 on the battery, and here is a DIY for cleaning the IAC. Disconnect the negative battery cable before doing so. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-r...n-the-iac.html
