Real Dim Parking brake light
So lately here in the Pacific North West it has been raining like crazy. Fall is here. Sort of a strange thing has been happening to my truck. Not major. Just after a few days of heavy rain my parking break light glows dimely. 1st I checked my brake fluid and it was fine. I don't use my parking brake so that is not it either. I think water is getting into some module possibly. Sometimes it starts off bright and then after 20 mins of driving it goes out. Most of the time very dim. Where can I look for water build up? Under the hood? I would think if it was a fluid preassure issue it would go off after a few pumps of the pedal. I looked behind my rear brake plates and no sign of break fluid leaking and the level has stayed constant. Anyone else experience the ghost glow parking brake light?
I will redo my parking brake lines and shoes next time I do the brakes. I bought the truck and the previous owner had never used the brake either.
Also noticed a weird moisture build up spot in the cab. Between the top and bottom seat of the rear bench. I jammed my hand in there and felt wet. I can only think condensation drips from the back window and gets stuck in there. All my floors are dry. Checked the interior out when trying to find the short in the glow of the brake light.

check around the 3rd brake light on the top rear of the cab. they like to leak and then run water all over the place. you might need to reseal it with some RTV or new gasket or something.
since my truck is black anyway and has a dent next to the 3rd light, i just took the lazy way out and ran a small rtv bead around the light seam.

Thank you. I installed a new gasket around the 3rd brake light. The original had shrunk to nothing and the PO has just siliconed it which only lasted a year due to the summer heat. Should be good to go. Things have dried out now and the light has gone off for now.
