Where to put my 95 5.9L
Hello all!
Ive been lurking around this forum for a few months now, trying to gain as much knowledge as possible and using the search function to the best of my ability. Ive never posted anything before for 2 reasons. 1. Ive found the information needed via search function, and 2. I could not answer the question asked. Now I have a question for the experts on here. I have a 95 Ram 1500 2wd Laramie that is a 5.9L. It was a farm truck with very little miles, but when the tornado hit Joplin, Mo last year it pretty much DESTROYED it. Mechanically it is very sound but it is beyond repair on the body. I still start it up and run it, change the oil and other preventative maintenance because Ive been wanting to find a home for it. I was wondering what I could put this engine in. I want it to be as painless as possible especially on the wallet. I really prefer the new vehicle to be 4wd. There are a couple of blown engine bodies around that I could get for a decent price. Would this engine work in a 2000 2500 4x4, or could I put it into a Durango or something? I would like to just bolt it right up any information would be greatly appreciated

yes, it will work in any magnum 5.9 application, including the 2500, up to year 2002 which was the last year of the 2nd gen in the 2500.
But but but - your 95 is OBD I, which means that it has older intake sensors and might have an EGR valve, so you'll need to plan on swapping the intake OFF your 95 for the one that came out of the original vehicle. so its not exactly bolt right in.
welcome to DF.
