Default Can I drive my 4x4 with front drive shaft removed

I need to remove the front drive shaft to get the u joints done. My question is... Will anything be damaged or fall off If I drive it to work and back with the shaft removed. Im thinking it is ok but I need someone to verify this. Since american parts are hard to find out here I wont be able to get the ujoints for a week or so and I hate to be down a car when the wife and I both work...

Thanks

Zeek

take the shaft out and see how it's mounted to the transfer case... there should be a flange that bolts onto the shaft from the transfer case. if this is your setup, you should be fine... I just checked the 2001 manual that I have and it looks like it's a flange so you should be ok...

Yeah thx. Im not real sure its the u-joints on the drive shaft now due to the fact that when I cut the wheel to the left or right real fast the popping stops for a few seconds. This popping had just started and I am going to have to let it get a tad worse before I can find it. All the stupid u-joints look solid. And it only happens every now and then... I just put a new battery in it yesterday. Since it is close to 5 years old now some nomal maintance is popping up. I just hate it when it happens all at once.

see ya

I can verify for you, it will be COMPLETELY fine. I've done it myself and know tons of other people that have done it, on Fords and Chevys as well.
