Well my reverse gear has no gone out. I want to make the conversion to a NV-4500 trans but don't have too much to spend on it. Help anyone?

Really? Converting to a NV 4500 is an expensive project....

rebuild 1600.00 to 2000.00. Truck looks worth it.

Ya know if you haven't already done it you could do a rear band adjustment for ****s and giggles.

Yeah fix it... A conversion to a NV4500 (which I am in the middle of, check the link in my sig) is expensive... Plan on at least $4000 for a good setup... Mind you I said at least though...

You can rebuild it yourself for under $500. Some places, decent rebuild could be found for $1200. Viper for about $2500.

Unless you can find a donor truck...

Even still you don't get a reman transmission with warranty...

So what? If the trans is in good shape it will last a very long time with proper maintenance. NV4500's are overkill for v8's, so they last.

Depends how it was taken care of, primarily in respect to what fluid was used (affects synchronizers), how many miles, and if it had the 5th gear mainshaft update. So yeah, a used NV4500 would probably be fine.
