I'm running out of money and ideas for my trans
My 96 ram 1500 5.2 4x4 still doesn't run right after i replaced the governor pressure solenoid and sensor. (With Borg Warner) I think it got better but im not sure. It still waits a long time to shift into 2nd and will switch between 1st and 2nd if i dont feather the throttle. i also adjusted the tv cable. i made the tv cable tighter but that didnt help. i dont have a whole lot of money to throw at the truck so finding a solution soon would be great.
You say you made the TV cable tighter, but the question is: Did you adjust it correctly or were you trying to correct a problem by adjusted it away from the specified setting?
If absolutely everything else is known to be dead-on factory spec, you might try cleaning the valve body and checking very carefully for slop in the throttle valve while it's out. If the throttle valve is leaking due to bore wear, you can fix it with a Sonnax throttle valve kit that costs about $40. If there's a leak somewhere else, though, the valve kit won't magically fix it.
