Default Truck jerks in first at low rpms only

I just finished a tranny swap on my 98 v6 I noticed it jerks real hards and almost sounds like its cutting out coming out of first gear but it only does it at low rpms.. If I give it a little more gas it shifts smooth like nothing is wrong.. I'm not very mechanically inclined so I've had hell doin this on my own and learning slowly and I need a little help here I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I noticed I can hear the flexplate grinding a little also someone said I need to clear the codes from my old burnt up tranny would this fix it? First good answer will get a high five LOL

You should probably put more in-depth description. Explain it in a way that even our wives could understand the issue your having.. LOL Is it shaking the truck.. what exactly do you feel..

It jerks 3 or 4 times almost like if I was running out of gas when it's trying to shift to second

It jerks 3 or 4 times; does it feel like the truck shifts in and out of gear when it does that or does it sound like it's coming from the motor? any RPM issues when it happens?

If you hear anything to do with the flex plate, remove inspection cover and check TC bolts as well and trans mountng and starter bolts. Something is mis-aligned. Also check crank sensor.

The fluid is good I have been checking it constantly. The bolts are all good and the sensor is snug and the wires look good too. When I say it jerks the rpms just go up and down when it is jerking. It's similar to mashing the gas pedal in and letting off over and over then it shifts to second out of nowhere. It only does this when I start from a dead stop going slow. If I drive a little faster it shifts like nothing is even wrong. Could this possibly be a code from the old tranny I have to get cleared?

how r u checking fluid level? are u checking it like engine oil, cus ive checked mine when the truck was off and the level looks fine but when i warmed the truck up stoped, put in nutrel wiel engine was runing, then checked it, it was low... the reson i checked mine then was because when i was in DD drive thru i was in drive just holding the brakes, and the truck tryd to move forward for a sec then stoped. it dint move cus i was on the brakes but i could tell it was pulling.

Ok.. So sounds like you have the Dodge Shake of Death. (LOL @ THE of death part) Many of us; including myself a Dakota and Dodge Ram guy's have this shake right off Idle and non of us have found what the issue is..

We have all done complete tuneups; TSB's Seafoam; decarbon foaming crap; coils; and all kinds of stuff.. One guy even has his Plennum fixed; and so on..

My first advise is to Check all the main bolts and such; make sure nothing is loose; make sure you have a fresh tune up.. plugs wires; check routing of the wires per the TSB and so on.. check all the fluids.. then check your mounts; engine and tranny; and don't be fooled; my tranny mounts were said to be good by stealership and 2 tranny shops and when i went to replace mine for the hell of it.. i found mine was actually shot to hell and back.. all the weight can hide the cracks along the metal..

If in dought.. replace.. you can use a prybar and check for cracks.. if they look dry and old......... replace them.. if you think they are questionable at all.

Ive done my tranny mount but have yet to do my engine mounts yet.
If you look in the forums for Shudder you should find our febal attempt to make an end-all be-all discussion about the shudder off idle as well as the 45-60 shudder as well..

You can kinda see what we've all done.. ask questions so your not just throwing money and parts in..

Other than that.. do compression tests and find out if you a cyl. that is extremely lower than the other 8.
