Default Back Pressure

Hi all,
I hooked up a back pressure gauge on my '96 318. At 3000 RPM at WOT I hit 6 psi, by 4000 RPM it's up to 8 psi. Under normal driving conditions and even moderate WOT it never goes above 2 psi. In park, revving it to 3000 RPM, the psi stays below 2. I really have to be gunning it under load for the back pressure to get that high.

Is that normal?
Is there a possibility of a partially clogged catalytic converter (muffler fairly new)?
Even if it's normal, would I benefit from a high flow cat?
Thanks for any advice!

I've no clue, but I've read conflicting info here about back pressure, some say you want a little back pressure, while others say you want no back pressure.

Kinda like to know myself which is correct...
