Should i get a 5.2 ram or a 4.7 ram?
I very much disagree. I have never done any kind of comparison, but just by nature of the engine construction and such I'm absolutley sure a 318 will run longer than a 4.7 when abused. Take quadcabluv's '95 for example. He drive the thing 20 miles on a broken crankshaft. Think a 4.7 would do that with it's lighter duty build and dohc aluminum heads? I don't. Ever heard of a 400,000+ 4.7? I haven't. I have heard of 5.2's running well past that number though.
Some advice for you, Wombat -- Don't wrestle with a pig in the mud, because the dirtier it gets the more the pig likes it.
Long story short, dodge_dude94 is not going to change his mind no matter what.
Fanboy I am not. I am going from what I have experienced in the 7 years we've had the truck. Which has been ZERO issues with the engine. Go onto the 3rd gen forum and they will tell you to ditch both engine ideas and go for the Hemi. So, either way, we're biased to the 5.2 and they're biased to the Hemi.
Oh well.
Oh well.
i have swaped a couple 318s but they are from high kilometers (300k km and up) and i see lots of 4.7 blow their sides at 120k km

BTW. I. Think I could have drove it another 20 miles.
-I had an 02 Dakota 4.7L. 130km (canadian truck) and the heads cracked. My buddy also had the same truck and experianced the same problem. They sure did haul *** though, very fun trucks to drive before the issues
-Another buddy has an 02 ram 1500 with a 4.7 that cracked a head aswell.
Overall I would definetly not reccomend the 4.7 I swaped my Dakota for my ram 5.9 and definetly prefer it.
