Hey guys. So last night I finally got my truck running after 2 months of working on it. Feels good to have it back. I can tell a power difference. It runs and idles smoother. Can't wait to get a trailer hooked up to see if its got more grunt. But heres the questions...

It did this before I tore it apart and now: When you floor it, I expect it to get high into the rpm's but it only tickles the 3000 range. I thought it would of at least flirted with 4000 rpm. Why could this be? Any adjustment I can make? Granted I don't always floor it but sometimes its nice to clear its throat out...

Secondly, after the plenum repair, I am looking to get a high flow cat on it, what would be a good brand to buy or are they all a good choice? Mainly just want better flow and be legal for emissions. I'm sure the cat now is clogged somewhat. Evetually when money allows, its going to get headers. Maybe this is related to the rpm? Thanks guys

 

Wont go past 3000 how? In neutral? While driving? Need more info.

 

sorry left that out, when driving, say from a dead stop or punching it on the highway. It just feels like it shifts to early. It feels good when its climbing in rpm's, but then when it gets to around the 3000 range it shifts to the next gear before it should I think. I feel it has more to give me but it won't.

 

Check the adjustment on the detent cable. It goes from the linkage on the throttle body to the transmission and adjust it to specs. http://www.bionicdodge.com/Download/...Adjustment.pdf

 

MagnaFlow high flow cat's can usually be found for $100 or so. And do something with the cat soon, as it's more than likely clogged. I cut mine out about 10 months after I did the plenum fix and that was the single most effective thing I did in terms of immediate power gains.

 

+1 on clogged cat.

Mine is rattling but I can still punch it upward of 4 grand.

Also, seafoam the engine afterword, that will get rid of all the carbon crap left over from the burning oil.

Yeah if the cat is clogged up, it'll restrict your ability to rev.

Check that tv cable, adjust if needed. You may have something going on inside the trans too.

 

Put seafoam in the fuel, or oil, or both?

 

Read the can!

Put it in through the brake booster line going into the intake.

Let the suction of the intake suck the SeaFoam into the motor, do a whole can. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, something like that, start her up and watch the white smoke!
