Default Gas Tank Leak

My 97 Ram has a gas tank leak.
I'll do my best to describe this.

When I drive for long distances and especially in warmer temps and turn off the truck, liquid gas will spill on the ground under the tank. The top of the tank is wet but I have been unable to see where the gas comes out.

Also, if I remove the gas cap after driving around, a lot of pressure is released in a loud hiss. If I leave the gas cap off, the leaking is less but it still happens.

The plastic line off of the pressure regulator or filter broke a while back and while I was in there I noticed a small rubber cap (like for a vacuum fitting) on a line coming out of the top of the pump/sender was broke open (dry rotted/cracked hose).
Would the pressure have caused this to come apart and is this where liquid gas could be coming out?

If so, I assume replacing the cap would solve the leaking issue although I have a feeling it may also be leaking from the pump-to-tank seal.

But the pressure buildup concerns me. Could that be from an inoperative EVAP system? I have 0 fault codes. Also, the gas cap has been replaced and this still happens.

the evap system is supposed to hold pressure, capture evaporative vapors (not liquid), and then release them into the engine intake at certain intervals. i don't know how much pressure?, but some.

i think you probably have 2 different problems. a minor problem with vac hose leak (use fuel line from any parts store), and a SERIOUS LEAK that could result in fire. PARK IT until you can fix the leak.

you could try a short experiment with leaving the gas cap off to eliminate any pressure buildup, but it will likely still leak and with a spark in the right place - burn up....

you'll likely need to raise the bed or drop the tank to get to the top of it. (like replacing fuel pump and filter).

I would raise the bed so that the fuel system can still operate, then prime it and look for leaks.
