Magnaflow 23285 Cat on a '99?
I tried searching and haven't found a definitive answer, please forgive me if I overlooked a thread that had the answer.
Basically like the title says I want to know if a Magnaflow Direct Fit 23285 fits a '99 1500 with the 5.9. Magnaflow's website lists it for my truck, while other distributors websites say it fits 98 but Not 99. Just wondering if anyone on here has used this on a 99 or if someone could explain WHY it doesnt work on a 99.

Ought to. They didn't change the cat configuration until 2000 when they changed into a single in, single out cat. As long as it's dual in, single out, with an 02 bung between the two pipes in, you should be fine.
^^what guy said. here's a visual in the FAQ section: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ram-1500s.html
Yep, x3, that'll work great. They list 99 5.9L at magnaflow

thanks. I had seen on Magnaflow's site 1999 listed for that part but Autozone, Summit, and a few other sites said that part only went up to 98, just wanted to double check.
Ordered it on Friday, should be here Tuesday. She already has a nice rumble with the Pace Setter headers and the Flowmaster 44, cant wait to get that clogged up cat out from under her. After that it'll be time to dive in and take care of the plenum, dont want my new cat getting messed up.

Keep the receipt. There have been some reports of some 1999 models being like the 2000-2001 units. From what I have read, most 1999 models should be like the 1998 and earlier, so that is most likely right, but keep the receipt for an exchange just in case.
I'll do that. What under my truck looks like what Magnaflow has pictured so I should be fine, but stranger mix ups have happened to me with parts that were SUPPOSED to fit.
new one is on its way and should be delivered tomorrow so I guess Ill know for sure then.

well UPS guy dropped it off last night close to 7:00 PM (don't envy those guys, holiday season work load) so didn't get to putting it in until today. Every was a perfect fit.
Man was that old one clogged up BAD, quite the change in performance. Plenum fix kit should be coming tomorrow, but we're moving over the next few days so wont tear into doing that until we're settled in the new place.
Just curious, has anyone scrapped a stock Cat off a second gen Ram? just wondering what I should expect to get for it. I Know the one I scrapped off my Bonneville was around $80.
