Default 318 crankshaft sensor problems

Alright guys so while trying to reinstall the trans after i replaced the clutch i managed to break my crank sensor. Thought it was no big deal bought a new one from autozone and replaced it. The truck wouldn't start after that so i pulled the sensor back out and there was a groove cut into it from the flywheel. Found out the sensor had not been pressed on the bracket enough so i replaced it with a new one from autozone. after replacing the sensor the truck will start but idles rough and barely runs lots of white smoke on startup and misfires. Has anyone else had these issues and what can i do to fix this?

IIRC the aftermarket sensors are not liked by these trucks. It's a dealer-only part I think.

As for white smoke, that's usually indicative of a blown (majorly) head gasket.

I bought mine from advance auto parts and it worked great. I also destroyed mine when reinstalling my transmission (nv3500).

I can call to see what part number I got...let me know.

Went ahead and called for you. Part number CSS40, about $46 bucks. Let me know if it works.

Alright thanks i will check on this today and let you know and i was assuming the white smoke was from too much fuel not a head gasket.

White smoke is from coolant burning in the combustion chamber, black smoke is from too much fuel.
You've got something else going on here.
