Throttle linkage

Have a 96 diesel and I've been trying to set the TPS and was following the repair manual. I noticed that the throttle linkage adjustment bar (with the flat part) is in the rear towards the cab like the 97 parts manual shows. Is there any difference between the 96 and 97 other than the position?
