I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 5.9L 4x4. i went out today and i noticed some transmission fluid in the snow and now sure where the leak is coming from i this it is the seal for the transmission fluid pan but not sure any ideas from what it could be or where it is coming from?

 

Lots of places it could be coming from.

A picture or two may help.

If it's just the pan gasket no worries, most expensive part is buying 6 or 7qts of ATF+4...

 

clean it up... without cleaning you can not say whre it come from.
Drive around for... 20mil, and then test it again.

Now you can see where the oil has come

 

ok thanks for the help. I drove it today and after i got home i seen some drips in the snow. So mostly liklu its the seal on the pan? the people that had it before me they never changed anything in it. They put a new transmission in it but they did not change the seal. They did not take care.

 

they change the transmission but never the seal??!

Normaly you have to open the pan for changing the oil. If you don't change the oil, okay, than you have to change your transmission a little bit more ;-)
