I would use the OD on flat spots and cruise then turn it off for starting off from a stop and hills. But if it starts to shift too much in od on the flats go back to not using od....Do you have the larger transcooler? I would also get the fluid changed prior to doing it and right after...seems a little excessive but better safe then sorry. just my $0.02....

Here is the link OD on or off

I don't want to knock Trippens response but it should not be necessary to have the tranny fluid changed that much. If it hadn't been done for a long time (ex: 36,000 miles or so then do it) but not right after you get back. I know dodges have tranny issues but damn that is a little rediculous. I would recommend towing in OD until it started shifting in and out a lot, then turn it off. As long as it isn't shifting in and out it should be just fine. Turning OD off from a start isn't going to do a damn thing considering it won't shift into OD from a start. If you have 410 gears and stock tires you shouldn't have any problems pulling 5 harelys. It's not that much weight all together. If you are really that worried though I guess borrow the ford. Really hate to see that though, driving a ford, just a nasty thought.

YEAH I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT BORROWING THE FORD.....LOL....I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE LOOKS AND I USE IT FOR LIGHT DUTY THINGS AND I DEER HUNT A LOT AND I PUT THE FOUR WHEELER IN BACK SO I REALLY DONT TOW A LOT OF HEAVY THINGS AND I REALLY DONT NEED MORE THAN THE 1500 I HAVE NOW BUT THIS IS A DIFFERENT SITUATION SO I THINK I WILL HAVE THE FLUID CHANGED AND FLUSHED.DO YOU THINK I SHOULD ADJUST THE BANDS ON IT OR NOT? IT HAS 65000 MILES AND I DONT KNOW IF THEY HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED OR NOT.....ABOUT THE LARGER TRANSCOOLER I DONT KNOW BUT I WILL CHECK IT OUT.......SO I GUESS I JUST TAKE MY CHANCES AND HAUL THE HARLEYS TO BIKEWEEK WITH THE GOOD OLE DODGE!!!!!

If you take it somewhere and have th fluids changed then then band adjustment should be included in the service. You may want to ask to make sure it is being done though.
