Thanks guys I'm actually begining to think I'm going to be able to finish this project. Now on the front driveshaft I shouldn't have to mod anything right, but on this write up :
http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techart...le_conversion/
it says that he had the front driveshaft shortened, and he just bought a rear from a 2500. Did anyone else have to do this?

I'm guessing its a dana 60, came out of a 98 5.9 2500 gas motor. I do know that the pinion nut is larger than the nut on the 9.25.

you will need the sway bar off the 98, i believe. i too have an 01 1/2 and am in the process of a 1 ton swap.

my axles are out of a 96 diesel, so i have a 60 front 70 rear. the front d-shaft doesnt need to be shortened. the rear, ive heard that it does, and that it doesnt.

some of the 3/4 and 1 tons had either 1350 u joints, or 1410 u joints. make sure you get the right one.

where are you located? itd be cool if you were somewhat near me. hen i could see it happen...

There are a couple of different size pinion nuts for the 9.25. They're the same size and thread count and interchange but they require different size sockets to remove/install. The older nut with the separate washer is slightly larger than the newer nut with the integral washer.

Our axles we pulled out were in a 99 1500 and the axles we put in were a 60 70 combo which would have been a easy swap but my boss wanted custom long arms built for the front axle. But like I said earlier the front just needs a conversion joint 458 from a napa.

So from what i'm understanding if your swaping with a dana 70 you do not have to extend the driveshaft, but for the 60's you do...figures i'd have a 60. Live in DC metro area

Thats a good point I grabbed a 1 1/4" socket to take off the 9.25 pinion nut and went to take the d60's nut off and the socket wouldn't fit, to small, so I just figured it would be a different size thread, didnt think about it being just a thicker nut.

So as of right now i'm going to hit the junk yard tommorow and see if they have any 2500 quad cab short bed drive shafts I can check out, measure them and see if it'll fit, if it measures up i guess I'll just get that to avoid having to find a place to cut my existing one and re balance it.

The perches don't seem to be such a big deal, cutting and welding some new ones I can do that in my garage.

There is a cross-joint that will let you use the 1500 shaft with the 60, I had that part number but lost it, I will see if I can find it again.

We had to shorten our rear for the 70 dunno about 60 rear shaft length needed but I've given the info that I know about the swap. Maybe its different cause yours is 3/4 ton where as ours was 1 ton
