little confused here..
So, it all started with cel p0753, did lots of reading on this site, even took some advice from the cummins guys to see if i had a open connection somewhere. Doing that let me to replacing the ecu with that of a 98 ram, same exact truck as far as engine, trans, hell its even a slt larie. Anyway. Pluged in the ecu, started and runs perfect, the trans even works like its suppose to. Now my odometer says no bus but all my gauges still work. With that said, i still have a cel but no codes, and after a short drive my o/d off light stays on. I have not had a chance to see if the o/d kicks on and off whn im driving with the light on. The question i have is will the ecu if flashed for my vin and miles work in my 2000? Also, i think the 98 ram had analog odometer as where i have digital, would this be why i get the no bus?( my tranny did not shift on its own before swapping the ecu)
your truck is a 2000 and you put a stock 98 pcm in it. you now have a software mismatch between the 2000 cluster and the 98 pcm. no bus means one of them can't talk to the other. you may also have a mismatch between the pcm and the transmission OD control.
you need to either find a 2000 pcm, or have yours reflashed to 2000 software. i don't know if a dealer would do that or not. they might only be interested in selling you a $1000 replacement.

I figured it would be the issue, just wasnt sure as how everyone else that mentions the no bus also sau they had an issue with the way the truck ran and gauges not working. With me not having these issues wantes to make sure it wasnt something els like frying more solenoids. Ill go get a 2000 ecu. Thank you!
Need to match year and options such as tranny.
