Default Questions Questions Questions.

Ok well the other day my 5.9 (360) wouldnt start would crank and crank turns out my ASD was staying open and wouldnt let my truck start took it to the dealer they replaced it and flashed my computer runs great now, but my question is.
What all does the ASD control?. and how come it never threw a check engine light or showed on my odometer that there was a pcm code?. just curious on how that all works??.

And i herd you could bypass the ASD how so?. And is there any way i could check it down the road if this were to happen again without a scan tool thatnks.

What the fk is an ASD?...have we as society gotten so lazy as to abbreviate everything even when asking for help? I can't keep up with all these slang words.

ASD=Automatic Shut Down.
its a safety mechanism, probably required by the govt.
it shuts down fuel pump and coil when it senses that the engine is no longer turning. this reduces risk of fire and its not a bad idea.

unfortunately, our on-board diagnostics and display of cel are poor.

the ASD fuel pump shutoff prevents continued and uncontrolled pumping of gas after engine shutoff.

there's also a roll-over shutoff mechanism in the gas tank valve to stop the gravity flow of gas when the truck is upside down.

there's also a sensor under the battery, but i don't know if that's a temperature sensor or something else.
