Whats the Weight Difference between an 04 Hemi truck and 2nd Gen Ram?
my 1500 tipped the scales at 7200lbs on monday. but that was with my plow on, 400-500lbs in the bed for a ballast, and me in it. without me in it, it weighs in at 6900 pounds... yes im a big guy, but who cares! yep, i was slightly overloaded, but its gonna happen in the winter months. if i were to take the ballast out, id be ok. the tired little 318 still gets up and goes even with all that weight!
though id love to see what a hemi could do with that kinda weight in it...

http://dodgeram.info/2004/dimensions.html says 6600lbs for an 04. I'm guessing a 97 is 6-800lbs lighter or so? Couldn't find it with a quick search. I know mine moves OK for what it is but in general its a turd. If you are that worried about how fast your truck is you probably shouldn't be driving one.
My '97 360 Ram moves like a mother F*ck! to the point where I think at least from the line to 45mph it feels like my buddies Hemi if not a little more snappy. I've driven a few Ram's with 360's and I must say mine has got the mojo, even though all 360's I've driven have all been pretty powerful, mines a boss. I used to giggle like a school girl when driving my buddies Hemi truck and still probably would but its kind of a disapointment to see that theres not much of a difference in actual performance between a 2nd gen Ram and Hemi Ram. If I compared my buddies Hemi truck to my sisters 2000 Ram, that'd not even be a judgement call...Hemi all the way and thats thanks to the Death Flash on the last 360 magnum motors.
Its all motivation to find out what a Hemi might or might not do in a 2nd Gen truck and to instill some pride in my 2nd Gen Ram when people say "YOUR TRUCK don't have a HEMI". Even though I'll never do that swap to my own, would be nice to dream if I ever get the right deal down the road on another truck & Hemi.

Death Flash is easy enough to eliminate (SCT).
