Default 98 that never heats up

My truck does not heat up. I drove it an hour and a half today on the interstate and it never got over 165*. This is the same temp it gets to in the summer. I have very bad heat in the truck because of this. I have been considering blocking off part of the radiator for now to get the temp up. I am also thinking of going to an electric fan setup that I will be able to adjust the temp that they kick on.

What could be the cause of this or is this normal for these trucks? When it warms up some I am going to be doing the plenum fix and I will check the condition of the heater core and the hoses at that time. I don't think that is the issue though because the temp gauge doesn't come up.

I feel a bit dumb when I realized what the issue is. The thermostat is stuck open. Normally it would open and close depending on the temp. with it stuck open it is cooling the coolant to the maximum and it never heats up to where it should be.

I also have very weak heat and my thermostat i think is a 180 since the highest it ever goes is this mark and it stays there.

I have already bought a 195 one which i hear is stock but i havent put it in. If i do will this fix my problem and if it doesnt what can it be?

you should see a slight improvement in miles per gallon because the pcm is trying to get to that 195 temp so it runs a little rich to try and heat the engine up.
