Default engine cutting out

I am new to the forum and have serious issues with my truck. (01 5.9 magnum) For a few months now almost daily, my truck decides to run fine for about 30 seconds and suddenly i lose all response to the gas pedal. After i pump the gas pedal for a while it seems to clean itself out and runs fine until i shut it off and attempt to drive again. I ran fuel injector cleaner, replaced the wires, plugs, distributor, and pcv valve and it seemed to help a little but it now does it every few days still. I am also noticing a very loud sucking noise coming from the engine. I also checked the codes and nothing showed up. the truck just turned over 70,000 miles and i have done everything i can think of to figure this out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sucking noise from the engine? That sounds like your cat is getting clogged. The wierd thing is that you say it kinda clears up and fixes itself. Mine made a really bad "sucking" noise when my cat was cloged. It was air trying to get sucked in while the exhaust was trying to get out through the intake. I thought at first might be your fuel filter, but if theres a sucking noise I'm willing to bet on your cat, or some other exhaust blockage.

I agree mine did the same thing about a week before the cat left me on the highway doing less then 20mph and dieing every 5 min. Mine wasnt clogged but the material inside let go from the walls and would be moved when i restated it. and then when a bigger chunk fell off is when it died compleatly. If this is the case with it idleing you should be able to hear some gravely sound near the Cat. also check to see how much flow you are getting rom your pipes...Mine could not even blow a flame out from a lighter(non wind prof)
