Default formal hello

so i swerved into your site while lookingh for answers about my rear lights staying on on their own when parked. i try to do all my own maintenance on my vehicles. i have over the years owned a 1972 3/4 t dodge, a 1976 3/4t dodge both very nice...the 72 was t-boned by a speeding gran prix...so sorry for the gran prix but i had to retire the dodge. thats when i got the 76 where upon i gave it to the kid as a starter dodge and bought a 1974 power wagon extra cab...old forest service rig. so nice so little problems. i had that for many many years until i upgraded to a 2000 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4 cummins turbo with a 6" lift, 37" tires, quad cab huntin machine with a brand new sony sound system. love the ride. i did take it to the trusted diesel mechanic off-road specialist for their opinion. after a few upgrades a new hood and tailgate i am in 7th heaven. now i am try to find wether or not the brake light switch is working or not. the 3rd brake light does not come on...just the two rear lights. moving the brake peddel up turns off the lights so i have a 2x4x53/4 block to keep from burning out my battery. looking for another test to check for sure. love all the experience i see on this site with guys with similar rides. everywhere i go in this neck of the woods dodge ram's rule the back roads. am looking forward to spending some quality time on this site helping me along the way. they just don't make trucks the way they used to where you could crawl into the engine compartment with both feet to work on the motors. these are a bit more intimadating. i will get around to filling out and post more personal data as time goes by. until then howdy from the northwest corner from this long time dodge owner and new ram quad owner...just can't seem to justify the cashish they want for a brand spanking new truck. have always been about 10 years late buying my rides...after checking out the guts.

Welcome to DF. There is an oil burner section here also.

Also, the brake switch needs adjusting. Look closely, htere is an adjustent. As far as acab lights, check fused. Wring daigram in FAQ/DIY section (in service manual).

Hey welcome to DF! This place is great, with a lotta knowledgeable people.

If I remember correctly there should be a jamb nut that you loosen which allows for movement of the switch.

The third light could be something as simply as a blown bulb if the other two are working.
