Default Spare Tire Question

Got out to my truck tonight and noticed I had a flat tire, driver side rear to be exact. When the road side assistance guy showed up to change it with my spare, he brought to my attention that the spare is bigger than the tires on the truck, tires on the truck are 245/75/16, spare is 265/75/16. My question is, would it be safe to drive the truck with the different size tire on the truck?

It will be fine for short distance/speed, just don't put in 4wd. Its strongly suggested not to run different size tires, its more dangerous and can cause damage. Buy a matching tire, and try to get the same brand/model.

when i put new tires on the truck, i went with the tire size on the inside of the door, and they turned out not to be the same size as what was on the truck. after I get this tire fixed, I plan on getting a new spare so that way i dont have this issue again. the shop i go to is only 2 miles down the road, and thankfully the roads are cleared from the snow storm we just had, so 4wd wont be needed tomorrow.

The tire size on the door is the basic tire that came on the base trucks. Some trucks (I think all 4x4) came with 265/75-16 tires.

Mine (4wd) came with 245/75/16's. But then I bought it used, so I dont know true stock size.

^Time for a build sheet.

Hell, my truck came with 285's when I bought it, but I got my build sheet and it says it had 265's from the factory.
