Hey guys. I have a 99 dodge ram 4x4 with a 5.9. I have read several threads on the p1757 p1762 codes but still have a couple questions. Does anyone know the part numbers for the solenoid and the sensor from like o reilly or auto zone or is this dealer only? Also i read one thread where an o2 sensor caused these codes also and i have a p0138 for an o2 sensor. I called dealer and they want $220 for both. It has only took of in second one time and i read thats a symptom for gov pressure solenoid. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Go to the websites and search for the part you are looking for for the truck you are driving. You can find out if it is carried by them that way. You can get o2 sensors cheaper from a parts store or rock auto. Again, simple searching will tell you part numbers.

OK. I am really confused and do not understand what the problem is.

And +1 to what jkeaton said. Check rock auto, and stay away from bosch O2 sensors if you need them.

Yeah, just call or stop by a parts store. I had to buy an 02 sensor from a parts store in a pinch a while back, it was like 65-70 bucks. They are cheaper from rockauto though if you can wait the extra few days.

Get NTK o2's and the gov switch from rock auto and purchase the Borg Warner gov solenoid from here http://www.doghousediesel.com/catalog/i307.html or a local tranny shop.

I would replace or at least inspect 02 sensors wires first, before just replacing tranny sensors. The downstream 02 sensor can give a p1762, p1763 code also and put trans in limp mode, which, I believe is what you meant by starting out in second. P0138 is specific for the downstream 02 and is on same circuit as gov pressure sensor and solenoids. One member here had similar cel's and downstream 02 sensor wire was shorting out, replaced and all was well. And yes get NTK or Denso 02's. No bosch!
