are you guys running your subs under the back seat? got any pics?

 

What do you guys think of these Rockford Fosgate speakers?

 

A friend of mine who's into car audio heavily swears by Rockford Fosgate.

Doesn't do you any good but there is a Rockford System for sale locally for like $400.

Dang that is a pretty good deal! But it's goin to take awhile to save up for my sub setup so I'm just going with my speaker setup first. But I'm getting them Rockford Fosgate fronts and kicker rear speakers, and still my 4 channel 300w alpine amp.

And I found a Rockford Fosgate 500w amp to run my two kickers when I get them.

 

if you can't get a dimension sheet from Kicker, find a set in the store and open them and measure them.

from my notes a long time ago....

my 6x9 speakers have a 3" depth, and are shimmed out 1/4" to clear the window. the tweeters protrude about 1/4-3/8" and slightly bulge the door panels. tweeters are very sturdy and seem like they'll be ok. i don't think anything deeper than 3" AND with a protrusion would work out.

Alright, thanks. I'll try and do that next time i go in. But if they won't work, I'll just get them Rockford Fosgate 6x9s i posted earlier and get the Kicker 5.25s in back.

 

I recently installed a pair of Rockford Fosgate R1694 Primes in my front doors. I didn't need to shim them out at all for window clearance, and I installed the grill to protect the tweeters from the door panel. The panel bulges out a little from the grill, but it isn't noticeable at all.
I'm happy with them, they are bright and clear, and I haven't had any issues with distortion at high volume. I'm also only running them off a sony head unit with 52W per channel, so I'm not looking to blow out windows.
I also installed the R165 Primes behind the seats. I had to cut off one of the 4 mounting tabs because of the way the metal is formed, but the factory speakers only had 2 screws in them, so I'm not worried about them getting loose and rattling. I couldn't put the grills on these, but the plastic cover panel has plenty of room for them, so there was no need.
Unfortunately, they are mounted low and behind the seats, and have the stuff in my trays nearly right up against them, and my seats are all the way back, so they are badly muffled. With the fade adjusted slightly to the rear to compensate, they do a decent job of filling in some mid-range.
Neither set of speakers puts out much low end, but I had a powered infinity sub that fits inside the tray on the floor behind the passenger seat. With a powered and a passive 10 in the box, it fills out the low end nicely.

 

Thanks for the write-up. I'm going to stick to getting them Rockford Fosgates I posted because they look similar to yours. But howd you fit them speakers in the rear? Any modification? I know 5.25s will fit but I heard them 6.5" ones would with some modification. And I don't care about low end on speakers because I'll be getting 2 Kicker 10s later on when I get the funds.

Are you running any kind of amp to your 4 speakers?

 

The only modification I had to do was that I had to cut off one of the 4 mounting tabs that stick out:
I'm just running them off my Sony Xplod head unit. It has 52Wx4 channels, sub outs, sounds pretty good, and doesn't look expensive enough to warrant stealing.
