Default Fuel tank Ideas????

I have a 95 1500 "shorty". I have been looking at building a skid plate. Ideal world- fuel tank would be up above frame rail and I would build a belly plate with cut outs for drive shafts.

Move tank? Change tank? So I'm thinking of changing and relocating the fuel tank.

Fuel cell- too expensive I think? What about a Dodge ram van? I wonder if the tank would fit up where the stock spare was? Does it have the same fuel pump(asembly)? Or will the van pump assembly work in my truck?

I just starting to research this, just throwing a few throughts up to see if anyone has any ideas or suggestions?

I think it is more trouble than it is worth. Plate underneath existing tank. Fuel pump from van would be the same pressure - if it is the same year range.

Off-Road edition Rams (2000-2001) came with a skid plate for the fuel tank.

You can see it peeking out in this pic. Might be able to find someone parting one out.
