Default Calipers rubbing on wheel

2001 Ram 1500 4WD

First of all, I am running 15" wheels, which I know are not a stock size, however I wasn't having any issue before, so.....

I replaced the brake pads on both sides, and the caliper on the drivers side front. The caliper on the right side was rubbing against the wheel a little, however the driver side with the new caliper is now rubbing very pronounced. I don't see how anything could be misaligned, as there are only two bolts holding the caliper on. It can't sit any different then it currently is.

I'm thinking that with the new pads being thicker, the calipers are now pushed into a different position.

Anyone else ran into this issue?. I'm thinking I'll just need to grind down the outside of the caliper where it is rubbing?

Thanks for any input...

You answered your own question. The dual piston calipers do rub the wheel with 15s. Need to remove some material from the calipers.

Thanks for the response. I guess that's what I'll do, I was just looking for a conformation or second opinion before I started grinding away. It's just struck me as odd that it wasn't doing it before, and I put had these wheels put on about two years ago.

Thanks again...

I would be hesitant to modiy calipers as cutting away the castig reduces strength. I would put the correct sized wheels on it....

I had to grind my calipers after replacing brake pads as the 16.5" rims rubbed on them pretty badly.

16"+ you should be safe with 17" wheels.
