46rh temperature
A couple years ago now I got one of the 46rh Streel Evil transmissions.
Meanwhile I've installed 4.88 gears, rear locker and a mild lift on the truck.
Transmission seems fine, but I think it might be running little hot.
I know that it has to do a little more work (because of 4.88 gears), but I still think it gets too hot.
Without towing anything, cruising at 65 (maybe faster, still don't have right gear for the speedometer)in Over Drive tranny will get 200 deg +.
Could it be that my transmission temp sensor is too close to the fluid out-flow out of the tranny and the temperature I'm reading is as high as it would ever get. Cause it goes through the cooler next.
Or, possibly something with the TC not locking up in OD. Causing fluid to get hot.
When I turn off OD and keep speed lower and steady, transmission temp would drop a bit and stay steady around 180-190.
What is the optimum transmission temperature (or the range) it should operate in?

180 is real good.
i see your in AZ, so i guess its hot as hell out there. Have you got a big cooler on it? if not put on the biggest one you can find/afford.
if you can afford it, put on one of these.

i don't know much about transmissions, but have read a lot about them. our transmissions suffer from poor cooling in overdrive, which is a big part of the reason that we're not supposed to ever tow anything in overdirive (thanks dodge).
there's a lot of aftermarket improvements available from sonnax and other parts makers. i don't know if any of those kits address the overdrive cooling or not, and/or whether Dr Evil includes those mods into his transmissions or not.

So the moral of the story - pick a shop with the latest diagnostic equipment. The IAC would have shown up as an issue......
