DIY PCV filter install

1 Attachment(s)
Easy and inexpensive. $17. $20 at the most. I'm trying it . Anything that can help keep oil out of the intake is worth a shot for 20 bucks. Of course you can spend more money and get a bigger ,better, badder filter. But the fittings and hose sizes will be the same. Plus I want to see if this cheap filter works and for how long. ;)

3ft of 3/8" fuel hose

2) 1/4" pipe thread x 3/8" barbed fittings

1) 1/4 x 1/4 , 90 degree elbow (optional)

1) spray gun filter with drain (from Advance as pictured)

and teflon tape.

Here is a couple pics. Very easy, 10 - 15 minutes.

the only thing i can advise on is possibly getting a filter that you can take apart or see how much oil is in it. then you know how much is in it and it also makes it easier to empty.

Is that reusable? Any way to clean it?

The catch can is about the same cost but lasts forever (kind of I suppose).

I agree that anything that keeps oil out of intake is a good thing!

Let's keep my rusty POS out of this please. ;)

That cheap filter has a drain valve . So we'll see how it does. Not as good as some big azz one I'm sure. But the rest of it applies and is very easy to do. ;)

Is that drain like a valve stem or a brake line bleed nut? You don't show it in the pictures.

Why not plug the port in the intake and put a breather filter on the valve cover?

PCV system keeps your oil cleaner, and helps ring seal. You actually WANT it to be working correctly.

Thanks for the info, I thought it all had to due with emissions and sending unburnt gasses back through the system, instead of emitting them to the atmosphere.
