Default Speaker clearance issue

I just put in some kicker 6x9s in my truck. I had to put a 1 inch spacer for them to clear. Now they stick out to the point where the door panel barely fits on. Is there a way I can cut the trim where the grill is so I can have the speakers showing so I can have a better clearance. And I want to use original door panel. I don't want accustom fiberglass thing. Thanks in advanced!

I guess you can cut it out....its your truck! Don't understand why you put a 1" spacer, then ....didn't you expect a fitment problem when adding the spacer? Remove the spacer seems like the best way to solve it.

Of course photos may help provide some clarity.

No spacer would mean it would hit the window track. The spacer itself fits fine but I can't get the panel back on. How would you go about cutting it?

I know putting a spacer in might have made it bubble a little but I can't get the panel on. Is there like a video or even pictures I can see somewhere so I can get ideas. I've been googling and found pretty much nothing.

did the speakers come with grill/covers.

i can't believe i'd suggest this - but if you used a cutting tool and cut out the grill shape in the panel and let the panel lay flat around the speaker instead of being bulged up over it - then you could install the grill over the top of the hole in the panel. be very careful to know how much gap the grill would cover. 1/4"?. 3/8?. your hole would have to be that precise.

the other options are to live with it like it is
or - remove the kickers and return/swap them for something less deep.

i have a 1/4 inch spacer on my rockfords and its a liveable bulge.

here's what you already know.
