Would a worn timing chain affect mileage at all?

doing 55 is good for me lol.. I love going down the Long Island Expressway and having a line of cars behind me trying to speed around me. I have been driving "not like a grandma" and it helps too.

It isnt speed that "kills" as the old saying goes; its speed difference. You going ten under combined with someone else going the speed limit or even a few over is a terrible combination. Havent you ever been going down the road and all-the-sudden come up on someone putzin down the road and think, "Wow... Look at that moron. We almost wrecked into him!"? Well... If you ignore your OD problem and just drive slow like that, you become the moron that is going to get someone else into a wreck. Not to mention yourself. I only say the "moron" part because you know the problem exists and causes an issue, but you choose to do nothing about it. Dont be that guy.

My '96 5.2L SLT with 121k just got 15.3 MPG with mostly interstate driving averaging 75 mph. A couple of time before that I got about 1 mpg less. Does this sound right? I'm about to replace my IAC which is bad.

That's actually pretty good. Enjoy it while you can, since you may have the beginnings of a blown plenum.

Well, just my luck...I didn't see your reply until today because my PC at home is down. I replaced the IAC valve this weekend, and I had the throttle body off cleaning it and everything. After checking out the "End all.." plenum thread sticky a few minutes ago, I realize I could've checked the plenum better when I had the TB off.

With a decent flashlight, you can open the butterfly valves and get a pretty good look in there even with the TB mounted.
