Default Trans temp gauge question

Exactly what all do I need to do it? Anyone got a DIY Guide for it? And overall, how hard is the job? I figured maybe do this with a tranny cooler? Anyone got input? Thanks!

When I wanted a guage I went ahead and put on a extra capacity aluminum pan that had a bung in it for a guage, then went with a Glowshift digital guage. Cost me a couple hundred bucks.

Autometer has a sensor that attaches to the lines for your cooler.

The best part about the factory temp gauge is that when you're in drive the shifter is in the way of the light! LOL If you were in any other gear you wouldn't need the light!. The light was designed to tell you when to press the OD Off switch so the trans wouldn't shift in and out of it so much with big loads...even though most people should anticipate lots of hills and tough grades when hauling big loads and lock od off anyway.
