The lower raditior hose was burning up and the upper hose was cool. Is that normal, after running it for about 5 minutes?
It's supposed to be the opposite. The lower rad hose is what is bringing in cooler water into the water pump. I would say the t-stat is stuck shut but that would likely blow hoses.

Pull the t-stat and drop it into boiling water, put a thermometer in the water and see if it opens around 190*.
I romoved the old thermostat and it was in pieces. I cant believe that, considering I just replaced it in December, when I did the plenum repair. I put in the Super Stat as zman17 suggested and it seems to be running ok. I'll test over the next few days. Thanks for your quick responses guys!!!!
