Plastic bottle removal
Does anyone have any tricks for getting those recovery and washer bottles out without breaking them? I have a '98 Ram 2500 with a 5.9L Cummins. I've pried and jacked on them to the point of destruction and they still won't pop loose. I've oiled the slides and might try a heat gun to soften it next. It's very hard plastic that is unforgiving. I'm an old school mechanic and don't have a lot of experience working on plastic trucks. Thanx!

Thanks for the links Dave. I got those stubborn bottles out without breaking them once I learned about the elusive "alignment pin, " which amounted to a bump on the side of the bottles that slipped into a hole on the fan shroud. In the old days, once you removed all the bolts the part fell off in your hand. Now they make em like Chinese puzzles - all popped and snapped together like toys! lol Once you know "the secret" it's easy. But trying to figure out how the puzzle is put together can sure have you scratchin your head. My 60 yr. old eyes just couldn't see them little bumps on those bottles until I was alerted to them. I down loaded the manual, which will come in very handy during future repairs. Thanks again! - Vic
