Default 95 Ram 1500 Electric Brake Controller

I am trying to install an electric brake controller in my 95 Ram 1500. I have read everything there is about doing this as well as going to several auto parts stores and still can't figure out what I'm missing.

My truck doesn't have the blue connector located by the emergency brake. There is one wire that is blue and has a tag on it which says "Trailer Tow B +" on one side and "Maximum 14 amps" on the other side. This wire is factory and doesn't have a connector on the end. The other end goes into the factory wiring harness.

I pull a small fifth wheel camper with electric brakes and I would like them to work. So far I've only pulled it near my home but I do wish to travel further and know it's not safe without the trailer brakes working so not installing a controller is not an option. Neither is buying a different truck.

I purchased a Curt's controller but before I go splicing wires I figure it's best to ask the pro's on this forum what i should do. Any suggestions?

This truck does have the factory towing option with a class IV receiver hitch and 7 pin wiring connector. I installed the fifth wheel hitch.

The blue wire you found will connect to the blue wire from the brake controler. Then follow Curts wiring diag that came with the controler. As far as I know 96 was the first year for the plug and play system. You can Dl the 95 fsm over in the diy area, sec 8w-54-2 or page 708

In case you don't have a copy. https://www.curtmfg.com/masterlibrar..._51120_INS.PDF

Edit: Make sure the proper fuzes are in place in the power dis box found under the hood on the drivers side inner fender.

^ google maps tells me its 2600 miles and 41 hours from north georgia.

at 15 mpg, it would require 173 gallons of gas at lets say 3.75/gallon would be $650 one way.

the funny thing is that when I get there, i'm still only halfway to northern alaska. driving there and back would cost over $2600 in gas. i wonder if the dodge would make it?

^ Kiss that cheap gas price out the window once you get into BC and beyond. About $5.50 a US gallon here for reg. I would like to think your truck would make it, you have put a lot of parts into it and you maintain it. Going gold digging? seems to be the craze up north these days.
