This is true, however, newer vehicles are made to crash standards that are to protect the occupants. Now, I understand that there are a lot of vehicles, that because of these seemingly "weaker" vehicles, people get hurt. However, you're more likely to get hurt in an older vehicle than a newer vehicle.
only if you don't wear a seat belt. that is one of the biggest issue years ago. old trucks are just as good as new ones in a accident. now when a truck and a car get in a accident the people in the car are usual screwed even if they are wearing their seat belt.
Check all fluids. Axles, trans, t-case, etc. If it runs good, drive it.
+1 on check auto trans fluid. engine running, trans in neutral not park.

A new truck would've just deployed air bags, broke your neck and gotten totaled by the insurance company.
Oh this truck was "totalled," but I had them send the notice to the WA state DMV, not the Louisiana DMV where it is registered through '15. And I will not be registering in WA until it is expired. Hopefully they will have forgotten about it by then. Haha. If it ends up registered as salvage, whatever. I don't actually care.
