Default Gauge cluster problem. 2001 ram 1500 5.2

My 2001 1500 sport 5.2l recently began to have a gauge cluster problem. About 300 miles ago (98k) my seatbelt light randomly came on while driving and all gauges went hay-wire. They dropped and spiked and now it's gotten worse. Today they did the same thing but more often and beagn to stay off. Also I would loose speed very fast after letting off the gas. Any ideas as to what the problem is?! Any help is appreciated thank you!

any check engine light on? you can check for codes by turning ignition key on - off - on - off - on. read any codes in the odometer.

you can also do a gauge test by holding in the trip meter while turning ignition key on. odometer will say CHEK and turn on all the lights and sweep all the gauges.

do you ever get a "no bus" in the odometer?

a simple first step is to remove the bezel and unplug/replug the cluster into its socket a few times to scratch off any tarnish.

welcome to df.

Thank you. I did the trip on thing. Did what you said haven't driven it since. I have never had no bus code. Ill try pulling the bezel tomorrow hopefully I don't crack anything. I just hope it's not a bad short or comp prob
