Default check engine light question

i have a 98 ram 1500 with a 360 in it. my check engine light comes on when my cutouts are open which i understand why. but i want to know if i would get worst gas milage with the cutouts open vs. them closed. thanks.

i'd bet your mileage would go down... loss of backpressure in the exhaust.
