Default Aftermarket Radio Issue

I have a JVC head unit that I have installed, but when i go to crank the truck (2000 1500) or give it auxiliary power, the head unit will turn on for a second (the screen on it will say goodbye) then turn off. I have the hot wire from the head unit connected to the ignition power wire instead of the constant power wire. Any ideas of how to solve this?

Not real familiar with installing stereos but, I'd move the wire to another power source besides the ignition.

I have connected it to the constant power source, but it does the same thing, once you ground it it turns on whether the car is on or not. but the same outcome, it says goodbye and cuts off.

Dodge has a pink wire which is the constant power source and a red with a white strip which is the ignition power source that were connected to the original equipment head unit.

Like I said, I don't know enough about stereo install. I do know that plug and play harnesses are sold. I'm sure someone else will chime in sometime today with a lot better info than I can provide on this topic.

If I remember correctly, the yellow wire is the constant power. This is to keep the memory settings. Red is the ACC/ignition power and black is ground.

You want the red wire from the head unit attached to the Red / White wire from the truck.

The yellow wire should attach to the Pink wire. It may also be pink/white.

For the ground wire, just attach it to a bolt head some where in the dash that is metal.
