My wheel bearing on the passenger side is bad, I have alot of play up and down. My question is do I have to replace the entire hub assembly or can I just replace the bearing in the old one, if so, does anyone have a part number or anything that could help me out? I would highly appreciate it

 

I believe you have to replace the entire hub assembly.

 

2wd you have to replace the whole hub assembly, not sure on the 4wd.

 

rockauto sells unit hubs cheap.

 

2wd or 4wd you have to replace hole hub. Always had good luck with napa bearings in dodges

 

I ordered from rockauto, I just got the cheapest one they have, it's made by raybestos. I realize it's not the best but I'm in a pinch and it's not worth an extra 60 bucks for a little longer life

 

Is it possible to split the hub on the other side and repackage the bearing with fresh grease? To try to prolong its life?

 

I would just replace whatever requires replacing, whether you can replace just the bearings or if you have to replace the whole hub assembly..

Then you won't have to worry about it.

 

I know, but I need the truck to work, so right now I'm just driving it on a bad bearing, I just want to try to prolong the drivers side bearing so it doesn't go on me and cost me more money

 

I drove around on a bad bearing for who knows how long, only found it during VA Inspection, the wheel had lots of play, looked like slow motion death wobble.

My hub assembly was $120 from AutoZone, and cost $22.50 to have put on, it literally took 20 minutes.

Better off to replace it sooner than later.
