Default Exhaust- Cat Converter

Hey yall! I have a 99 1500, 5.2, 4wd. It's the stock exhaust piping with a flowmaster super 44. Have no emissions testing here, therefore I'm wanting to take the catalytic converter off. Should I completely take it off and replace it with just a pipe? Or just gut it? Anybody had problems with the spark plug non fouler still throwing a code? Thanks!

If you want it off, sell it to a recycler,
you might get enough to pay for the pipe.

Last I knew the cat's from these trucks went for around $75... Probably less if they're all busted up...
