I was having issue with this 96 2500 Diesel rpm's raising and dropping at 60mph and higher. I pulled the TPS, it's been replaced a couple of times, checked for any wear and sprayed it down with some contact cleaner. Now the truck won't start. It turns over just won't start. Could the TPS be the culprit? I've done nothing else.

i don't know anything about diesels, but do you have a multimeter? if so, probe the wires in the electrical connector and test for voltage. might be 3 wires. 12v (or 5), ground, and signal (something like 1-5 volts). if you have supply voltage, then test the signal while you twist throttle from closed to wide open. see if you have varying signal.

vaughan I haven't probed, not yet. This thing did start and ran without a hitch for a couple of hours after nothing more than pulling the TPS and wiping it off with a cleaner soaked rag. There in lies the rub, it started and ran with no problem.
